Palm Treo 750

The Palm Treo 750 combines the power of Windows Mobile 5.0 with Palm ease of use and Cingular’s quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE. The external antenna is gone, and the handset’s camera has been upgraded to the smartphone standard at 1.3 megapixels. Palm has trimmed some weight too. The 750 weighs in at only 5.40 ounces, the lightest Treo phone ever released.

The 750 uses the miniSD card standard and MMC-based memory cards so if you are swapping up from an earlier Treo you will need a new memory card. The device is well-buttoned and suitable for one hand operation, although some reviewers would prefer larger and/or more tactile buttons. The LCD screen is 240 x 320 to accommodate Windows OS but unless compared side to side still seems as sharp and colorful as its Palm OS predecessors.

The Treo 750 phone and PDA functions cooperate for a good user experience. For instance, you can type in the name or initials of a contact on the keypad to dial them. Or, use the touch-screen and stylus to copy information from an email and quickly paste it into another email or text message. You have Outlook Mobile, a feature that combines email, calendar, contacts, tasks, and notes into a single application for your everyday PIM.

The Microsoft Office Mobile suite includes Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, and PowerPoint Mobile. ClearVue PDF viewer handles PDF files which get converted to mobile format during Windows Active Sync.
Handsfree speakerphone, polyphonic ringtones, a vibrate mode and picture caller ID make phone use up to Palm standards. The 750 comes with unique ringtones built right into the unit. Additional Cingular ringtones can be downloaded. The Today screen offers functionality that cannot be had on earlier Treo smartphones without downloading additional programs.

You can use the Treo 750’s Bluetooth capability to wirelessly sync your contacts with your PC. Headsets, car kits and other wireless peripherals can also be paired with the unit via Bluetooth. The Treo 750 is GPS capable with a separate Bluetooth GPS receiver. This Palm PDA smartphone can be tethered to your laptop to provide a broadband 3G wireless connection anywhere you get Cingular cell phone service. No wireless cards are available for the handset itself.

Access your personal or corporate email, the internet, critical personal or business applications - all at Cingular 3G broadband speeds. Its innovative streamlined design makes it easy to use as a one-handed device when typing a message, or placing a call. With simultaneous voice and data technology, you can answer calls while surfing the internet or responding to email. With high speed data and GSM global coverage capabilities, the Palm Treo 750 will keep you connected anywhere your business takes you.
